Middle Districts Lions Club is the organiser of the annual Lions Market Day in The Square, held every Saturday of Labour Day weekend in October.

The Lions Market Day (previously the Old English Faire) has been running since 1956. The Square — the heart of Palmerston North’s shopping area — is transformed into a bustling hub of activity.

The Plaza corner of The Square is home to over 80 craft stalls, offering a diverse range of products and experiences for visitors, along with many food trucks. This year, we’re excited to add a full day of entertainment from local music artists, bringing even more energy and atmosphere to the event.

Stall Sizes & Prices

Standard (5M x 4M)	$50.00
Commercial food operators	$70.00
Non-standard site, add:	$20.00
Late Applications	$10.00

We require as many stalls as possible to register before the 30th September to be able to plan layouts and allocate sites.

Size of Site

Our normal size is 5 metres by 4 metres, however we can accommodate a larger size but we need to know your size so we can fit you in.

Don’t forget to include your guy ropes in your site size.

Power

Power is only available for preapproved Children’s rides.

All other stall holders are to provide own power via generators as required.

Preferred Sites

We try to give last years stallholders the same site as they had last year. It would be helpful if you were able to supply last year’s site number.

Food Operators

1. Middle Districts Lions reserves the right to approve or decline applications at its sole discretion.

2. All cooking equipment to be under cover i.e. under umbrella or tent /gazebo.

3. Are required to have a barrier between cooker and public. The public must not be able to touch cookers.

4. All operators, other than non-profit organisations, must hold a current local body health licence.

6. Failure to abide by the above conditions may result in the stall being closed down.

Cancellation

No refunds are available after the 4th October.

We now live in a time where we have to plan for events like Covid Lock Downs. Should we have to cancel Market Day, we will email you asking you for your Bank Account details. Once we get these details we will within a month refund you, your application fee.

Restrictions

The Lions Market Day is not the place for political, religious or contentious material or views. By taking part, you agree that you will not display, provide, bring to or espouse at the market day any material that is political, religious or of a contentious nature. If you breach this requirement your stall will be removed from the market and no refund given and stall holder(s) will be trespassed from the event and if necessary, the Police notified to carry out the removal.
