Palmerston North Middle Districts Lions Club (202d) has been proudly serving the community needs in the Manawatu for over 50 years. We are a 50 plus member club having a real impact on the local community.

Who We help

An ongoing project was initiated in 1991 when our President and Past President were invited to a meeting with our member of Parliament Mr. Steve Maharey and the then Mayor of Palmerston North Mr. Paul Reiger, at which they were told that the city‟s Methodist and Salvation Army‟s food banks needed help.

How We help

The Lions Clubs International motto is We Serve, which to Lions means selfless service to others in need in our local community. We work tirelessly raising funds so they can be used to assist others less fortunate than ourselves or we can be seen undertaking small building or gardening projects that are unable to be completed by the owners.

Our Causes

Whenever Lions club members get together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. Because we help where help is needed - in our own communities and around the world - with unmatched integrity and energy.

Child Cancer

The next generation’s ability to thrive is closely tied to the supports of the local community. Lions and Leos have seen and felt the effects of cancer on children and their families, and continue to bring hope through tangible service and support. Learn More

Diabetes

Diabetes is a global epidemic, affecting an increasing number of men, women, and children all over the world. As Lions and Leos, we see and feel the effects of diabetes in our communities and are doing something about it together.

Environment

The earth sustains human life. We’ve seen how our stewardship of natural resources can improve quality of life and increase engagement in our local communities. Our environment is more than a background: it’s our home. And we’re committed to caring for it.

Hunger

We serve to improve human flourishing. We see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon our local communities, and believe true community improvement depends on the thriving of its members.

Vision

Ever since Helen Keller inspired us to champion the cause in 1925, we’ve served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. Nearly a century later, this long-standing mission continues unhindered.

We have a long history of serving the blind and visually impaired, and remain committed to continuing this mission into our next century of service.

Youth

Young people are a dynamic force for good. We’re more than a century into service, and committed as ever to sustaining our impact over the next 100 years. That’s why we devote ourselves to serving youth as beneficiaries, youth as partners, and empowering youth as service leaders.

Humanitarian

Our mission is to support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants.

Disaster

Whenever and wherever disaster strikes, Lions are often among the first to offer aid. And the Lions Clubs International Foundation is right there with them, ready to support their efforts with funding assistance through global disaster relief programmes.
