Kind Hearts Trust Grant July 2025

A Lasting Investment in Kindness: Looking Back at Our Partnership with Kind Hearts Trust

What is the project?

For over ten years, the Kind Hearts Trust has been a beautiful force for good right here in our community. They work alongside over 30 local schools in Palmerston North and the wider Manawatū region, supplying teachers with specialized resource packs. These tools are designed to do something incredibly close to our hearts: create a sustainable, everyday culture of kindness in the classroom.

Why it matters

Kindness is a learned behavior, and the earlier we start teaching it, the stronger our community becomes. The Kind Hearts Trust focuses on empowering children to understand the value of both giving and receiving, the importance of respect, and crucially, how being kind to oneself impacts mental health. Pupils simply learn better in a healthy, kind environment, and these packs give teachers the exact tools they need to foster that space.

The Lions' Impact

To ensure these vital tools could keep reaching our local tamariki, the Lions Club of Middle Districts Charitable Trust stepped in back in July 2025 to provide a grant of $3,714.94 to the Kind Hearts Trust. This funding covered 100% of the reprinting costs for their school resource packs, securing a massive three-year supply that continues to support local classrooms today.

This grant directly supported:

  • Three years of certainty: Ensuring over 30 local schools wouldn't run out of kindness resources through to 2028.

  • Empowering educators: Giving teachers the physical workbooks and materials needed to build positive environments.

  • Community visibility: Keep an eye out for our logo proudly displayed on these printed packs in local schools!

"When the Trust looked at the incredible ripple effect these packs have on local classrooms, backing the printing costs in July 2025 was an easy decision. True community health starts with how we teach our children to care for one another, and these resources lay that exact foundation."

With their resource printing completely covered, the trust was able to successfully head into their major milestone events, knowing their classroom supplies were locked down for the long haul.
